Macdonald Devin P.C. is pleased to announce more growth, with the addition of shareholder Deke Owen to the firm. Mr. Owen is Board-Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a litigation attorney whose practice focuses primarily on construction law, professional liability for design professionals and attorneys, premises liability, and commercial litigation. He also offers arbitration and mediation services in these areas.
Mr. Owen has extensive experience defending construction defect claims on public and private projects, representing Architects and Engineers in multi-party construction litigation, as well as routinely representing professionals in multi-million dollar claims for damage, and obtaining successful dismissal through summary judgment motions. Deke’s extensive experience often allows for negotiated remediation of claims, resulting in more timely and less costly settlements for all parties.
Mr. Owen earned his J.D. and Sports Law Certificate from Tulane University School of Law in 2004, as well as his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Trinity University in 1999. In addition to authoring numerous papers and presentations on Design Professional Law and Risk Management, Mr. Owen was named a “Texas Rising Star – Construction Litigation” by Texas Monthly Law & Politics in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. He is a member of the Texas Bar Association, Construction Law Section, the Dallas Bar Association, participates in the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program and is a special events volunteer for the NFL and NCAA.
When asked about his work philosophy, Mr. Owen said “I approach the litigation process as a collaborative effort with my clients. Through day-to-day diligence, continual communication and thorough preparation, I strive to obtain a successful resolution.”
Macdonald Devin is excited to add another distinguished professional to its growing team in Dallas.
