Greg Ziegler leads defense of geotechnical engineer in successful settlement of $30 million wharf failure lawsuit

Greg Ziegler served as lead counsel in the defense of a globally-recognized geotechnical engineering firm in a $30 million, multi-party lawsuit involving the failure of a wharf under construction on the Texas Gulf Coast. The plaintiff-owner alleged that the geotechnical engineering firm was a major target and focused significant attention in discovery attempting to develop evidence of professional negligence. The case settled after mediation.

The geotechnical engineering firm ultimately contributed an amount commensurate with only the estimated future cost of defense, which was only a fraction of the overall settlement, resulting in a tremendous victory for Macdonald Devin’s clients.

Greg Ziegler was assisted by Macdonald Devin associate attorneys Bill Gardner and Steve Baggett.
